Wadebridge Camels 33, London Cornish 7 A NEW season for Wadebridge Camels brought London Cornish first and seconds to the Moleworth Field at Egloshayle to play the winner of the Cornwall Senior Cup from the previous season.

At stake was the Arthur Hunt Memorial Trophy which was inaugurated in 1982 in memory of the London Cornish club stalwart who originally came from Saltash and was a founding member of the club.

With a local pub in Roehampton as their clubhouse, London Cornish play in London Two South West and put out four sides every week.

Newly promoted to South West One, Camels were keen to maintain the momentum from last season and they didn't disappoint the 100 or so spectators who were treated to a entertaining game played in the spirit of the occasion.

The first 15 minutes sawboth sides evenly matched as they bedded in but Camelswere first to post a score when outside centre Dan Prout provided a neat inside pass to winger Dan Briskham who scored under the posts.

Full back Luke Davidson provided the additional two points that effectively saw London Cornish chasing the game for the rest of the afternoon.

Briskham added further to his tally ten minutes later when he received the ball on the half way line and bulldozed through two attempts to stop him scoring his second try out wide on the right wing.

Powerful Dan Prout was unable to convert and the score remained 12-0 in Camels' favour. After half an hour London Cornish failed in a penalty attempt after Camels were penalised.

Within two minutes captain Ian Boyling contributed to the Camels' tally with a powerful drive that rewarded him with a try which Davidson converted.

London Cornish still remained competitive and gained five points for their effort with five minutes of the first half remaining when inside centre Ben Carew-Gibbs touched down out wide on the left wing and fly half Connor O'Daley converted to make the half-time score 19- 7. The second half mirrored the first Fendi wallets as coach John May made several changes that saw former club captain Gary Gynn play his first competitive game for two seasons after long term injury.

Although London Cornish stepped up the pace it was Gynn who provided five points when he broke fromthe back of the scrum and touched down half way through the second half.

Luke Davidson completed his third conversion but, undeterred, London Cornish continued to press for points but lacked the necessary penetration of the Camels' defence. The pressure from the Cornish continued unabated for several minutes within a few metres of the try line but ferocious tackling by Camels prevented any further score from the visitors.

With two minutes remaining it was new Camels player and ex Launceston fly half Adam Collins who jinked through three tackles to touch down with Dan Prout converting to finish the game 33-7. On Saturday, the Camels firsts are away to Bude in a pre season friendly.

Fragments of castle's 1,000 ye

2010年9月3日

FROM a massive medieval fortress to a pioneering public museum and art gallery, Nottingham Castle has often played a major role in the history of Britain. Now a new exhibition will trace its development over the past 1,000 years, looking back at its origins in the reign Coach handbags of William the Conqueror through to its destruction and rebuilding as a magnificent 17th century ducal palace.

Called Fragments, the exhibition uses more than 100 objects - including stone, furniture and furnishings from the former castle buildings - along with models and paintings showing the castle and the castle rock site through the centuries.

Located in the museum's Nottingham Story gallery, this is the last of three major displays showcasing the area's history and legends in the wake of this year's Robin Hood movie, starring Russell Crowe.

Fragments gives a unique insight into the rich history of Nottingham Castle, now a Grade I listed building, explaining its significance in the history of the English Parliament, among Herve Leger Dress other milestones.

It also describes how the palace was left a smoking ruin after Nottingham citizens set it alight in one of the most violent protests against the Duke of Newcastle and his fellow opponents of Parliamentary Reform.

And it brings the Castle's story up to date with the building's pioneering role in the 19th century as the first provincial council- run art museum.

At least ten monarchs have played a key role in the story of Nottingham Castle, including William the Conqueror (who built it), Richard the Lionheart, Henry II and Charles I - who famously raised his standard on Standard Hill to start the English Civil War.

Many of the exhibits have been unearthed on the site during work or through several archeological digs.

Some are from everyday life, others highlight turbulent events.

The building lay in ruins for 40 years, possibly as a snub to Nottingham and its citizens. And it wasn't until 1875 that Nottingham architect TC Hine was asked to adapt the shell of the ducal mansion into a modern MiuMiu Purple Sheepskin Handbag Victorian museum interior.

In 1878 Nottingham Castle became The Midland Counties Museum and Art Gallery and was opened by the then Prince of Wales, later to become Edward VII.

Fragments is a permanent exhibition in the Nottingham Story gallery at Nottingham Castle. Details on 0115 915 3700.

WE WANT JOE

2010年9月1日

STOKE chairman Peter Coates has confirmed that the club are interested in signing Wales international Joe Ledley - but insists they don't have to sell before buying this summer.

The Potters are keen to generate some transfer income as they trim down a 28-man senior squad which will become 29 if Salif Diao accepts a pending contract offer.

But Coates, pictured below, says the desire to get some money in the bank won't hold up transfers.

Stoke are keen on 23-year-old Ledley, the out-of contract Cardiff City midfielder, and have been touted as favourites to sign him, despite interest from a number of clubs, including Glasgow giants Celtic.

As Ledley, pictured right and inset, is under 24, Stoke would be required to pay compensation to Cardiff, which could amount to more than Pounds 1m.

555 cigarettes

But that would represent a bargain compared to the Pounds 6m they bid for the player when he was under contract two years ago.

Coates said: "He is a player we are interested in and our manager, Tony Pulis, is involved in progressing that.

"I know Tony feels he's a good player who can play at this level."

If they can clinch a deal, Stoke should recoup Ledley's fee by selling Liam Lawrence to Celtic.

"They could also cash in on Steve Simonsen, who is wanted by Sheffield United, and Andy Griffin, who is on Reading's target list.

However, negotiations over those sales won't prevent the arrival of any new signings.

Coates added: "We can still do that, but I do stress we are looking to generate money from players going out."

He expects transfer activity to pick up throughout the Premier League as the World Cup draws to a close.

He said: "There hasn't been all that much serious interest in players at any football club at this stage. "But I think that will change as the World Cup finishes.

"I would be surprised if we don't see some changes here with players coming in and out."

Stoke are also bracing themselves for Championship clubs to wait until the end of the transfer deadline and then attempt to take City players on loan.

Coates added: "Clubs will do that. One reason is they don't want to start paying players' wages too early, that is always a factor."

UNLEASH ME!

2010年8月31日

ADAM WATTS has asked to be "unleashed" on League Two after hailing his comeback from a broken leg a complete success. The Lincoln City defender was delighted to get through 90 minutes in last week's goal-less friendly with Norwich.

Replica Panerai Swiss Firenze/GMT Watches

The former Fulham centre-back says the outing has given him a major confidence boost, declaring himself 100 per cent fit for the Imps' League Two opener at Rotherham on Saturday. "I feel a lot better now I've got 90 minutes under my belt," declared the 21-year- old, who missed the final three months of last season after suffering the break in the 2-2 draw at Grimsby. "If I'd gone into the season without that, it wouldn't have been easy, not so much on the body, more with the head, mentally.

"But once I got that, I was flying. I've just got to keep myself fit now. "Things have gone well since I've come back for pre- season.

cheap_Gucci Boston_shop_usa_uk_41

During the off-season, I didn't really know how to assess my recovery. "I was a bit nervous before my first game back because obviously I broke my leg in a tackle (at Grimsby). "My first game against Bishop's Stortford was a taster and I stayed out of the 50/ 50 challenges. "But the other night (against Norwich), I was confident with my tackles and I'm happy with the way I'm recovering.

"Everything is fine and I'm very positive. "As I've replica Louis Vuitton Handbags said before, I wanted to have a hard challenge just to test it out.

But I've tested the water and it's held up really well. "Unleash me - that's all I can say. I'm happy to have that 90 minutes under my belt.

I'm mentally strong and hopefully I can be part of a good start to the season." The Imps will learn their Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round opponents on August 14. Lincoln have been placed in the Northern Section East so will come up against either Chesterfield, Hartlepool, Northampton, Notts County, Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday or Walsall. The first round takes place in the week starting Monday, August 30.
